2022 Kimberly Cahill Memorial Scholarship Recipient
Tina Toma, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law
Tina Toma, 2024 Juris Doctor candidate, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law is the daughter of immigrants who fled the from the Persian Gulf War and eventually made Shelby Twp., Michigan their home. She credits Utica Community Schools for establishing an academic foundation that enabled her to achieve a Master in Business Administration from Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business. In her application she writes; “The Kimberly M. Cahill Memorial Scholarship is a fitting tribute to a woman who had a lasting impact on the legal community. As a recipient of this scholarship, I will make every effort to properly maintain and uphold her legacy during my studies and into the legal profession by giving back to the local community.”
The Macomb Bar Foundation is the charitable affiliate of the Macomb County Bar Association and is a reflection of the Macomb County legal community’s 100 plus years of public service and civic involvement. The early leaders of the Foundation had a vision to one day provide law school scholarships to deserving students. The vision became a reality in 2007. Through the generosity of its Trustees and legacy partners, the Foundation has awarded over $140,000 in scholarships.
The Kimberly M. Cahill Leadership Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded to a second or third-year law student who is currently enrolled in law classes at any accredited Michigan law school. The recipient should demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership and the ability to inspire and effectively lead others to a defined objective. The recipient must also demonstrate a need for financial assistance and an academic standing (3.0 GPA or above). This $3,000 scholarship originates from the generous contributions to the MCBF’s Kimberly M. Cahill Memorial Fund and honors the memory of Kimberly M. Cahill who passed away January 21, 2008.
2022 Macomb Bar Foundation Trustee Law School Scholarship Recipient
Julia DeLapp, Wayne State University Law School
Julia DeLapp, Wayne State University Law School, is the 2022 Trustee Scholarship recipient. Not only was she 2nd in her class of 107, she earned top grade in Legal Research and Writing and Property. She also served as editor on the Wayne Law Review, research assistant for Professor Christopher C. Lund, and completed an externship at the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Julia earned her graduate degree in Theology and taught high school for three years prior to entering law school. She states; “Much like teaching, I view the practice of law as other-oriented. I seek to serve and I came to the law in order to fulfill that goal”.

The $3,000 scholarship originates from the generous contributions of the Foundation’s Trustee.
2022 Macomb Bar Foundation Philip Greco Memorial Law School Scholarship Recipient
Raven Manzella, Michigan State University College of Law
Raven Manzella, 2024 Juris Doctor candidate, Michigan State University College of Law, hails from Shelby Twp., Michigan where she attended Utica High School. It was there that she “discovered my passion for public service, gave my first speech, and hoped to start my legal career”. Since earning her B.A. with honors from MSU in 2020, Raven served within the Michigan Department of Attorney General, and as an appointed member of the Internal Affairs Committee of the MSU College of Law Student Bar Association.
