Law Day 2006
The Macomb County Bar Association (MCBA) and Macomb County Bar Foundation (MCBF) will honor the winners of its annual Law Day Essay and Poster Contest for students in Grades 1 through 12 in a special ceremony and reception on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. This year, students in grades 3 through 9 and 10 through 12 participated in the contest. The program will be conducted by Honorable John B. Bruff in the Macomb County Commissioner’s Meeting Room on the 9th floor of the new County building (1 South Main, Downtown Mt. Clemens).
Mary Ellen Hauff (posters) a teacher at Sugarbush Elementary and Cheryl Kahl (essays) a teacher at Wyandot Middle School will receive the “Golden Apple Award” for having classes thatsubmitted the most “polished” posters and essays. This year’s theme was “Liberty Under Law: Separate Branches, Balanced Powers”. The MCBA and MCBF hold this annual contest to encourage students to learn more about the American legal system.
More than 160 parents and friends of the winners will be guests at the ceremony and reception. Macomb County Circuit, Probate and District judges and other Macomb County dignitaries will be attending the Law Day Ceremony, showing their support of this educational program.
