Law Day
Law Day is May 1. This holiday was created during the Cold War to showcase the United States' system of rule of lawin direct juxtaposition to the military might and hardware displayed throughout Soviet Bloc countries at their annual May Day parades. Black's Law Dictionary says that the holiday was "created in honor and respect of our legal system."
The Foundation supports the Macomb County Law Day ceremony held each spring in the Macomb County Board of Commissioner's Auditorium. This standing room only ceremony is the culmination of student's work grades 1 through 12
that discuss, debate and create essays, posters and multi-media presentations on legal topics. Law Day Winners. |

The genius of U.S. Constitution has resulted in over 100 other countries using it as a model for their own.
The Macomb County Bar Foundation plans to celebrate Constitution Day (September 17th) every year through community based educational programs that address the myriad aspects of this unique and special document. |
Lawyer Teacher Partnership
The Lawyer-Teacher Partnership program is the Macomb County Bar Association and the Macomb Intermediate School District are working together to teach law-related curriculum to upper elementary students (4th to 6th grades). The attorney partners serve as a positive link to the legal community for the class. The attorneys and teachers collaborate to present a minimum of three law-related lessons to the class during the school year. The lessons developed by the partners in the past have included simply answering questions about our legal system, identifying the people in the courtroom and their jobs, acting out a mock trial, arranging for a visit by the class to a real courtroom, and reading a fairy tale and identifying the possible crimes committed (think "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". Our program has been the largest of its' kind in the state since it began in 1990. |
