Pre-Nuptial Agreements

A pre-nuptial agreement is a written contract between two people who are preparing to marry, that sets out the terms of possession of assets, treatment of future earnings, control of the property, and potential division of assets if the marriage is eventually dissolved. Also called an antenuptial agreement. If either of the parties have substantial assets, children from a previous marriage, potential inheritances, high incomes, or have been "taken" by a previous spouse, the agreement is rather common.
