Paternity

Paternity is a lawsuit to prove that a named individual is the father of a child (or the fetus being carried. Usually filed by a mother. Paternity may be proven through blood tests (that can eliminate a man as a potential father), testimony about the sexual relations between the woman and the alleged father, evidence of the relationship during the period that the woman got pregnant, admissions of fatherhood, comparison of child in looks, as well as DNA evidence. Proof of paternity not only gives the child a known natural father, but will lead to the right to child support, birthing expenses and the child's inheritance.
