“The super index is a real time saver! The index is easy to navigate and the most helpful feature is the ability to view thumbnails of a document before purchasing the document,” said Jay R. LaBarge from Bellanca, Beattie & DeLisle, P.C.
"This is a great tool for finding proper addresses for parties of interest. I like the versatility of the search parameters," said Paul Vreman, Macomb County Treasurer Tax Collection Officer.

Register of Deeds Super Index Background
The super index is a new online real estate records search tool developed by Macomb County Clerk/ Register of Deeds Carmella Sabaugh, working with ACS, Inc., a Xerox Company, and Google. When complete, the Super Index will search for real estate documents similar to the way a Google search is done. The tool will make it easy for homeowners to conduct searches of multimillion-image databases to ensure they are not the victim of con
men who seek to fraudulently claim property ownership, or a second mortgage or a lien against a property.
Perhaps more importantly, this “super index” will help protect against the rash of mortgage fraud detected earlier this year in which banks try to foreclose on properties without possessing the proper legal documents.
The Super Index test site is an innovative way to find public real estate records, detect potential fraud and give property owners the tools they need to protect their own property rights. The super index includes over seven million public Macomb County, Michigan real estate documents from 1818 - July 31, 2012. When it's finished, the goal is that the system will have documents available online as quickly as feasible during the document acceptance and recordation workflow process. The super index links to the existing Register of Deeds computer system and process, which means there is no added staff processing time, no added delay and no risk that the super index will cause the industry "gap" to grow.
